My Brazil

General information

Original oil painting - 20 cm x 20 cm (3,5 cm depth)

This piece was born from a sense of nostalgia for the country where I was born: Brazil.

Growing up surrounded by banana trees, pineapple plants, rivers, and waterfalls, you don't always realize how extraordinary and precious that nature is until it is no longer an everyday part of your life.

I am half German, and when I moved to Germany, many of the birds that are so typical of Brazil became something I could only see in zoos.

Today, one of the things I enjoy doing most with my children is visiting the zoo. Perhaps that is why, at some point, it became inevitable that I would paint a macaw.

To me, this painting is more than a portrait of an exotic bird. It is a small reminder of my homeland, of the colors of Brazil, and of a kind of natural beauty that we sometimes only truly appreciate once we begin to miss it.
